Synopsis
Three separate Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense teams find themselves converging on a supernatural threat in Paris. The adventure begins when Hellboy and psychic Josh Ecton are tasked with finding a missing cat, which leads them on an unexpected quest to locate something called the Goat Stone. Meanwhile, Abe Sapien explores the dark catacombs beneath Paris, searching for monsters and demons lurking in the underground tunnels. The third team consists of Liz Sherman and Kate Corrigan, who appear to be on a simple book shopping expedition in the city, but soon discover that danger can be found even in ordinary bookstores. What initially seems like a routine missing pet case quickly escalates into something far more sinister. An ancient cult has orchestrated these seemingly unrelated events as part of their plan to kidnap Liz Sherman. The cult intends to use Liz as part of a supernatural wedding ceremony, essentially making her part of the dowry in this dark ritual. As the three storylines converge, it becomes clear that the missing cat, the underground threats, and the bookstore dangers are all connected to this larger supernatural plot involving witchcraft and demonic possession. The story culminates with Hellboy having to mount a rescue mission to save Liz Sherman from becoming an unwilling participant in this occult wedding ceremony. The tale combines the typical Hellboy elements of supernatural investigation with the immediate danger of having to rescue a teammate from an ancient evil cult's ritualistic plans.
