Misters Joseph Charles Dean and Henry Jenks are a pair of Americans with a keen interest in the paranormal. After their deaths in 1879, they found themselves in Hell.

History

Mister Dean lived in Hoboken, New Jersey, until he fled the country in 1868 following the suspicious death of his landlady. In 1875, while living in London, he joined Reverend T. S. Blum's Church of the Inner World where he met Mister Jenks. Jenks was a small-time thief who has recently been released from a Kansas City insane asylum. They were later banned from the church and turned to drink. On August 3, 1879, the pair collapsed in the road outside of The Admiral's Teeth pub in Whitechapel and were run over and killed by a milk cart.

Hellboy in Hell

Jenks and Dean appear in Hellboy in Hell: The Death Card where they are residents of Hell. They plan to write the definitive history of Hell and create a comprehensive map. They appear in later issues of Hellboy in Hell very briefly, in panels expounding information about the history of Hell.

Koshchei in Hell

In Koshchei in Hell #1, Jenks and Dean are seen boarding a hot air balloon to get an aerial view of Hell for their map. As they ascend, they are watched by Hellboy's ex-wife who says, "And they were never seen again."
