Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible
After leaving the B.P.R.D. following his second transformation, Abe Sapien made his way to way to the town of Grayrock in San Juan County, Colorado. Seeking a place to rest, Abe came to a local church and was warmly welcomed by the priest there to rest for the night. The following morning, Abe awoken to hear the priest address the community of survivors, preaching that the Ogdru-Hem were God's creatures and that what was happening was His will, angering the congregation. Several of the survivors were revealed to have been affected by mutations caused by the Ogdru-Hem, which the priest proclaimed as the presence of God.
When the priest and the angry survivors became violent towards each other, Abe attempted to intervene, causing a group of survivors to attack him while another group formed a lynch mob and attempted to hang the priest. As Abe rushed to the priest's defense, the priest suddenly and explosively mutated into an enormous creature. Proclaiming that the human soul within him was not alone and that he was more than just the priest, the creature spoke the name Ghennu-Hem.
The priest's transformation triggered the other humans afflicted by mutations to transform into even more heavily mutated forms, and begin attacking the other human survivors, Abe, and even Ghennu-Hem itself (though it is possible that these ones simply retained some of their human minds). After slaying one of the mutants, Ghennu-Hem rampaged through the town attacking Abe, growing larger and proclaiming that it and Abe would build the next world together. Ghennu-Hem was attacked by the town's police force and arriving B.P.R.D. forces, in addition to Abe himself, and ultimately the creature was subdued and its physical form destroyed. A surviving mutant later injured B.P.R.D. agent Joseph Vaughn before being killed by Abe.
